Shasta County Remain In Red Tier, 3 More COVID Deaths Reported Wednesday

Coronavirus has claimed the lives of three more Shasta County residents, a man in his 60s, a man in his 70s and a man on his 80s. The death toll is now 207. Another 19 cases have been reported, as well as 816 negative tests. The number of cases so far is 11,353. An estimated 106 people have the virus right now, 9 of them hospitalized and nobody in intensive care. Most Shasta County schools will bring all students back on campus following spring break, which is next week.

Tehama County has reported 5,295 cases and 54 deaths.
There have been 392 cases and 5 deaths in Trinity County.
1,878 have been reported in Siskiyou County with 16 deaths.
Butte County has reported 178 deaths among their 11,086 cases.
Lassen County has had 22 deaths among their 2,059 cases in the community and 2 deaths among the 3,594 cases in prison.
Humboldt County has had 3,476 cases and 36 deaths.
Modoc County has had 474 cases and 4 deaths.

Last year, COVID-19 was the third leading cause of U.S. deaths, after heart disease and cancer. Overall, the death rate was up nearly 16% compared to the previous year. There have been more than 551,000 coronavirus deaths in the U.S. since the start of the pandemic.

Federal officials are warning of a possible “fourth surge” of coronavirus cases if precautions are abandoned too soon.
