Motorcyclist Crashes Into Vehicle While Fleeing RPD Officers

A motorcyclist allegedly trying to get away from police ran a red light and smacked into a car Thursday afternoon in West Redding. An RPD Officer had tried to stop the Kawasaki for speeding and having no visible license plate. As the motorcyclist sped away, the officer did not pursue him out of concern for public safety. Apparently the motorcyclist, identified as 24-year-old Hunter Dorsey, thought he was being chased and tried to run a red light at Eureka Way and Pioneer Drive. He broadsided a Kia Forte driven by Crystal Wears. She suffered minor injuries. Dorsey’s injuries were major as his motorcycle was reduced to a mangled heap of metal. Both were transported to a hospital. When Dorsey gets out of the hospital he’ll face charges of reckless evading and driving on a suspended license.
