A driver in Siskiyou County went to great lengths to try and escape a pursuing CHP Officer. Thursday at around 5 O’clock the officer was on the side of Northbound Interstate 5 near the Anderson Grade Summit helping someone change a flat tire when the driver of a Honda Odyssey drove by and apparently threw a glass object that shattered on the ground next to the officer. The officer chased after the Honda and tried to pull him over south of Hornbrook. The driver exited at Ditch Creek and drove in circles at the top of the off ramp before heading the wrong way, south in the northbound lanes. The officer got onto the southbound side and tried to follow along but lost sight of the Honda. Other officers stopped northbound traffic, but not soon enough and the Honda collided head-on with another car. The occupants of that car suffered moderate injuries. The Honda driver, identified as 34-year-old Jeremy Strong of Ashland, tried to run away on foot but other drivers grabbed him and held him until CHP Officer arrived and took him into custody. Strong had minor injuries from the crash. He was booked into jail on multiple felony charges.
