A home invasion and stabbing incident is under investigation by Redding Police. At around 6 Thursday night, 19-year-old Christian Phelps called 911 from his home on Venus Way. He said a man he did not know had forced his way into the home and Phelps stabbed him. The intruder, 27-year-old Charles Benson Jr, fled the house after being stabbed and drove away. The CHP had already been looking for Benson because the van he was driving had been reported stolen by his mother. She later rescinded that report. Benson was caught by the CHP several blocks away on Shasta View Drive near Western Oaks. He was transported to a hospital to be treated for his stab wounds. His current condition is not available.
