High Speed Chase Follows Friday Morning Home Invasion

Redding Police caught a home invasion suspect after a high speed chase Friday morning. A little after 5am some residents of Hollow Lane in north Redding reported a man they did not know broke into their house through their rear slider door and immediately attacked a male resident. His wife hid in the bathroom protecting their daughter as she called 911. Meanwhile her husband struggled with the intruder and was struck with a large wrench before the suspect fled back out the door and over the back fence. He was seen driving away in a maroon Ford pickup, which responding RPD officers spotted a short time later on Old Oregon Trail at Oasis Road. Officers chased the pickup all the way to Mountain Gate and onto Interstate 5, where speeds reached around 100 miles an hour. The pickup exited at Fawndale Road and headed north, where 45-year-old Jeremy Raymond Brooks of Chico finally surrendered at gunpoint at 5:35am. He was booked into jail on multiple felony charges.
