March Jobs Report Released Ahead Of Next Month’s Shocker

Shasta County’s economy is starting to approach something resembling normal. The unemployment rate for March was 7.5%, which is just a little better than February’s 7.8%. EDD Research Data Specialist Sheila Stock points out that the real shock last year came when the Governor ordered a lock down in the third week of March. Some key industries that have been hurting have shown some slight improvement, including accommodation and food services. Tehama County had a 7.9% jobless rate last month. It was7.4% in Trinity County and 9.3% in Siskiyou County. The unadjusted California rate was 8.2% and it was 6.2% nationwide.
