A man from Gerber is accused of stabbing another man from Gerber. Just after 9 O’clock Monday morning, 47-year-old George Lopez showed up at the El Camino Water District on Highway 99W bleeding from a serious stab wound to his upper chest. He was taken to Saint Elizabeth Hospital, where he’s in serious but stable condition. Before being transported, Lopez and witnesses were able to give deputies a vehicle description and identified the suspect as 35-year-old Matthew Vaughn Perry Williams. He was found in Proberta, and told deputies he had gone to Lopez to talk about an ongoing dispute, and claims he was attacked and defended himself. He’s been booked for attempted murder.
