Man Reportedly Confesses To Burglarizing Weaverille Airport

A Weaverville man has been charged with burglaries of a couple of unusual targets. Earlier in the month deputies investigated a break-in at the Weaverville Cemetery. An equipment and supply building had been ransacked and the cemetery maintenance vehicle was stolen. The burglar then moved on to the Weaverville Airport and broke into two hangars. An airplane was vandalized and moved across the airport runway. Since then, 47-year-old Robert David Bayer Jr was picked up on an unrelated warrant. Investigators suspected him of the cemetery and airport heists and when questioned he reportedly confessed.
