A Sacramento man has been arraigned for attempted murder with a hate crime allegation for a shooting that injured two people at Lake Shasta on Sunday. At around 11:30AM the victims and their families say they were approached at the Salt Creek Boat Ramp by 21-year-old Silas Hesselberg. For no apparent reason he reportedly called one of them a racial slur and then pulled a handgun from his pocket and shot two people. He was stopped and held at gunpoint by a witness until deputies arrived. One of the victims was shot once and was treated at the hospital and released. The other victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds, including in the head, and was listed in critical condition. Hesselberg appeared in court Thursday and his bail was increased from $500,000 to $2 Million. He returns to court May 4th.
