County Supervisors Recall Ordered to Start Over

An effort to recall three Shasta County supervisors has run into a major snag. Apparently the organizers of the effort failed to include their own names, addresses and signatures in their announcement for the intent to recall. Recalling people from elected office is complicated and detail-oriented and after reviewing the documents, County Clerk Cathy Darling-Allen has concluded that the entire process has to be scrapped and if the campaign is to be done at all, it has to start over from the beginning. The organizers are targeting Leonard Moty, Joe Chimenti and Mary Rickert for what they see as a capitulation to the governor’s wishes over the interests of Shasta County citizens, particularly in terms of coronavirus restrictions. Supervisor Patrick Jones has been working alongside the recall organizers. Another group, called Shasta Forward, has been organized to oppose the recall.
