A Red Bluff man is facing federal charges after an alleged fentanyl bust in February. 25-year-old Austreberto Santamaria-Valencia was indicted by a federal grand jury last Thursday. On February 6th Red Bluff Police responded to a motel for an apparent drug overdose. Valencia was sitting in a chair unconscious but breathing. On the nearby bed officers reported finding multiple plastic bags containing counterfeit oxycodone pills made with fentanyl. Officers woke Valencia and medical personnel confirmed he was not in danger of overdosing. When officers found he had an active warrant he was arrested and a thorough search of his room and car reportedly turned up about 1,000 of the counterfeit pills, a loaded 9 millimeter semi-auto pistol, 170 Xanax pills, 5 packets of Suboxone strips, a few ounces of pot and about $7,000. If convicted, Valencia faces a possible 20 years in federal prison for the drugs and another 10 years for the gun.
