The CDC says fully vaccinated Americans don’t need to wear masks outdoors anymore unless they are in big crowds. And those who are unvaccinated can go outside without masks in some situations, too. The decision is based in part on research showing that less than 10% of documented instances of transmission of the Coronavirus happen outdoors.
Another 36 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Shasta County from Sunday and Monday, as well as 503 negative tests. There have been 11,866 cases so far, and 220 fatalities. An estimated 132 people have the virus right now, 7 people are hospitalized and 2 are in intensive care.
Shasta County’s Coronavirus cases are edging sharply upward. The adjusted case rate has increased from 6.8 to 10.2 daily cases per 100,000 residents. That’s in the purple tier, but because the positivity rate is still in the orange, the county remains in the red tier.
Shasta County has one of the lowest vaccination rates in the state. Vaccine is free of charge and any Shasta County resident 16 and older is eligible. Information on getting tested or vaccinated is at shastaready.org.
Tehama County has reported 5,494 cases and 57 deaths.
There have been 398 cases and 5 deaths in Trinity County.
2,020 have been reported in Siskiyou County with 21 deaths.
Butte County has reported 181 deaths among their 11,540 cases.
Lassen County has had 22 deaths among their 2,092 cases in the community and 2 deaths among the 3,593 cases in prison.
Humboldt County has had 3,799 cases and 38 deaths.
Modoc County has had 492 cases and 4 deaths.
