The City of Redding was recently reported by some area news agencies as being the 31st most dangerous city in America, but Redding Police Department is cautioning against jumping to conclusions based on hastily gathered data from questionable sources. For one thing, the RPD says the list did not come from the F.B.I. as reported. The F.B.I. does not compile such lists. Also, the definitions of violent crimes can be subjective, especially robbery and aggravated assault. Real local crime statistics, including a map showing crime incidents, can be seen on the city’s website.
