Two Extricated From Overturned Big Rig On I-5

A big rig rolled over Wednesday morning at Lake Shasta, resulting in major injuries. Two people had to be extricated by emergency personnel after the crash around 6:50AM at the O’Brien Inlet onramp to Southbound Interstate 5. The truck came to rest on its roof, complicating the extrication process. The driver was flown to Mercy Hospital in Redding with major injuries. The condition of the other occupant is not known. There was also a HazMat team called out for a large amount of diesel fuel and oil spilled on the roadside. The tractor-trailer had been hauling bottled water.
