A man from Castella is being sought by the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office after an incident Thursday afternoon. At around 5:30PM, deputies were sent to Main Street in Castella on reports that 30-year-old Curtis “CJ” Bartoo was assaulting family members with a weapon. Deputies from Shasta County and Siskiyou County, along with CHP Officers and a CHP helicopter, set up a perimeter around the home, but then found that Bartoo had already fled. Two assault victims were taken by ambulance to a hospital for treatment. The sheriff’s office says Bartoo has a history of drug use and violence, and he’s wanted for several felony charges.
