Shasta County Among The Highest COVID-19 Case Rates In California

The latest numbers from last week show Shasta County with another 23 confirmed cases and 779 negative tests, for a total so far of 12,175 cases. 226 people have died of Covid. An estimated 164 people have the virus right now, 8 people are hospitalized and 2 are in intensive care.

 

Vaccine is now available in Shasta County for children as young as 12. Several clinics for children are planned for this week. Vaccines are readily available and free of charge for everyone. They’re about 90% effective and no vaccinated person in Shasta County has died from COVID-19, or from the vaccine. Coronavirus restrictions are being lowered and events are opening up, but California has not yet dropped the mask mandate as recommended by the CDC. Among California counties with populations over 100,000, Shasta County has the 4th highest case rate and the 3rd lowest percentage of vaccinated residents.

 

Tehama County has reported 5,590 cases and 59 deaths.
There have been 402 cases and 5 deaths in Trinity County.
2,255 have been reported in Siskiyou County with 25 deaths.
Butte County has reported 183 deaths among their 11,863 cases.
Lassen County has had 22 deaths among their 2,113 cases in the community and 2 deaths among the 3,593 cases in prison.
Humboldt County has had 4,072 cases and 42 deaths.
Modoc County has had 501 cases and 4 deaths.
