The newly revitalized Downtown Redding will be celebrated with a steam whistle inauguration block party. Three steam whistles downtown pay tribute to Redding’s industrial foundation, and they’ll go off at 5PM every Friday to signal the transition from work to play. Food, live music, beer, wine, whiskey and vodka tasting will be featured for the grand opening of an imaginary restaurant- “Whiskey Lake’s Bar and Grille” – which is one of the facades on the new market center. Friday’s party will be from 4PM to 8PM in the heart of Downtown Redding. At 8 O’clock will be the illumination of “Electric Alley”, a geometric mural that will light up the alley that runs parallel to Pine Street and Market Street. It’s a part of the Redding City Identity Project, which also spawned “Umbrella Alley” and the Downtown Redding monument sign.
