CHP: Driver Killed In High Speed Crash On I-5

An Orland man died over the weekend after exiting the freeway too fast. Saturday evening 38-year-old Eddie Ontiveroz was southbound on Interstate 5 and took the exit to Highway 32. The CHP says due to his high speed, he was unable to stop at the Newville Road stopsign. He shot across the roadway to the onramp on the other side before colliding with a dirt embankment and a chain link fence. He later died of his injuries. The CHP does not suspect drugs or alcohol.
