APD: Speeding Felon Arrested In Construction Zone

An Arizona man was arrested after drawing attention to himself by speeding in the Interstate Five Redding-to-Anderson Six Lane construction project. On Monday, 32-year-old Ernesto Garcia was reportedly doing around 80 miles an hour through Anderson in a 55 mile an hour posted speed limit zone. He was stopped by Anderson Police and had no drivers license or other form of identification. He was told to step out of his car and when asked if he was armed he said he had a gun in his waistband. Garcia is a convicted felon so he’s prohibited from carrying a gun. The loaded pistol was not registered to him and it had a threaded barrel. That means it could be fitted with a silencer and is considered an assault weapon. Police say he also had a small amount of Methamphetamine.
