Lewiston Woman Pleads No Contest To Voluntary Manslaughter Charges

A Lewiston woman who has been in Trinity County Jail for two-and-a-half years has made a plea in the death of her boyfriend in September of 2018, according to the Trinity Journal. That’s when Eduardo Nurez flagged down an off-duty Trinity County Deputy on Highway 299 east of Lewiston. Nunez was suffering from a single gunshot wound. A Cal-Fire firefighter and an ambulance happened to be driving by as well and they stopped to assist, but the Nunez later succumbed to his gunshot. 38-year-old Jessica Chase was also at the scene and she was arrested for homicide. Last week Chase pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter. When she’s sentenced next month she could get up to 11 years in state prison.
