An innkeeper in Mount Shasta City has been arrested for sexual assault and the Mount Shasta Police Department is sure that there are additional victims who have not come forward. 73-year-old David Roy Knowles Sr. runs the Mount Inn Retreat and Spa on Birch Street. A woman reported a sexual assault on May 16th and Knowles was arrested two days later. The Siskiyou County District Attorney’s Office got the case, but then returned it to Mount Shasta Police, making it necessary to release Knowles from custody, but no charges have been dropped. On Tuesday officers returned to the Mount Inn with a search warrant and seized a computer, business records, a cell phone and other evidence. In the last few days more alleged witnesses have brought accusations against Knowles. Police and the D.A. are asking anyone who may have been victimized while staying at the Mount Inn Resort and Spa to contact them, with assurances that they will be protected and their anonymity will be maintained if they wish.
