Burn Ban Goes Into Effect For Tehama-Glenn Unit Of Cal-Fire

The Tehama-Glenn Unit of Cal-Fire has joined the Shasta/Trinity Unit in a suspension of burn permits. Every year, fire season starts earlier and ends later, and Cal-Fire says that’s due to climate change. Last year was the most destructive fire season in California history. With a massive amount of dead grass and other flashy fuels, the decision has been made to ban all residential outdoor burning of landscape debris, except for Mineral, Child’s Meadows, Deer Creek and Mill Creek. Since the start of the year, Cal-Fire has already responded to more than 2,615 wildfires around the state. Residents are urged to protect their homes by carefully clearing excessive vegetation from a 100 foot diameter. Tips are at readyforwildfire.org.
