Driver Airlifted After Crash On Highway 44

One person suffered major injuries in a multi-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon on Highway 44 west of Shingletown. One of the vehicles was a large box truck that ended up on its side with a large generator in the back. Also involved were a Chevy Silverado pickup and a Nissan Versa. The 1:30PM crash near Inwood Road had the highway completely blocked in both directions for over an hour and with traffic backing up, emergency responders and tow trucks had a hard time getting to the scene. One driver had to be extricated by fire rescue personnel and was taken away by helicopter with major injuries. Apparently nobody else was injured. One way traffic control was in effect by 2:50PM, and continued for hours as the mess was cleared.
