Redding Fire and Police Departments have been taunting each other on social media in the lead up to a blood drive competition. Vitalant’s “Battle of the Badges” is intended to boost the blood supply for the start of Summer, when donations generally drop off. Members of the community are encouraged to participate, and when they give blood they can say whether it’s for the benefit of police officers or firefighters, thus determining a winner. The donation event is Tuesday from Noon to 5PM at the Redding City Hall Community Room next to the Council Chambers.
