Council Asks Residents To Cut Water Usage, Declares Local Shelter Crisis

The City of Redding is asking its residents to cut back water usage by 10%, as part of a six-stage water reduction plan that was approved by the city council Tuesday night. City Manager Barry Tippin said that as the Summer goes on it is likely that Redding will require some mandatory rationing.

At Tuesday night’s meeting the Redding City Council declared a local shelter crisis, which will allow non-profits to build micro-shelters to be used as transitional housing for the homeless, a provision of the ordinance passed at a the last council meeting.
