More than 400 personnel remain assigned to the Cow Fire east of Millville. It started around 3:30PM Sunday off South Cow Creek Road and Highway 44 a little west of the Bear Creek Bridge. For a while all South Cow Creek residents were subject to evacuation, and crews also responded to the Whitmore side of the fire for structure protection. 18 homes actually had to be evacuated, but residents have been allowed to return home. Two structures were destroyed. The fire is 761 acres. It hasn’t grown in size, it’s just been more accurately mapped. At last word it was 50% contained. There’s been one firefighter injury.
