Redding Fire Department made quick stop on a fire that started near the Churn Creek waterway off Alta Mesa Drive and Hartnell Avenue. The fire was reported a little after 10AM and first arriving engines found a thick column of smoke from about a half acre of burning thick brush and trees. The fire was contained at about an acre by 10:30AM. A man was seen walking away north along the creek. He was intercepted by fire investigators and questioned.
