With temperatures well over 100 degrees and huge wildfires raging to the north, Wednesday was not the best timing for kids playing with fire. At around 4:15PM, Redding Fire Department was called to Creekside Street and Mullen Parkway in South Redding, where there’s a small community park and a greenbelt with some dry vegetation. A canal runs along the side of the greenbelt, and that’s where some kids were playing with fire and a flammable liquid. Crews contained the burn to about a half-acre of vegetation and play structures at the park.
