Many of the evacuations ordered for the Lava Fire in Siskiyou County have been lifted. Residents of Lake Shastina and Carrick are being allowed to go home. Areas still under mandatory evacuation include Mount Shasta Vista, County Road A-12, Juniper Valley off Big Springs, Harry Cash Road, 4 Corners to Hart Road and Highway 97 north to A-12. The Lava Fire is estimated at 23,849 acres. It stretches from the Mount Shasta Vistas in the north to the slopes of Mount Shasta in the south. It’s moving toward the northeast, according to the U.S. Forest Service, with containment at 27%. There’s no information available about how many structures have been lost.
25 miles up Highway 97 from the Lava Fire is the Tennet Fire, estimated at 9,836 acres with 6% containment. Evacuation orders for the Tennet Fire include Bray, south of Macdoel including east and west Ball Mountain Road, Old State Highway and Juanita Lake. Additional evacuations were ordered for Bray to the Antelope Sink, including Round Valley.
