A pedestrian was struck by a car and died south of Redding early Monday morning. At around 2:45AM the 25-year-old victim was walking south on Riverland Drive just south of Knighton Road when he was struck by a southbound Toyota Corolla driven by 18-year-old Oscar Castro Jr. of Redding. The CHP says Castro was evaluated at the scene and was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
