There was very little movement on the Salt Fire Wednesday, according to the Forest Service. The Salt Fire has burned about 12,650 acres, according to the latest update. Containment is at 35%.
41 buildings, including at least 27 homes, have been confirmed destroyed in the Salt Fire. A community meeting will be held at the Lakehead Lions Club on Mammoth Drive Thursday evening at 6PM.
Some Salt Fire evacuation orders were lifted Wednesday. The Sheriff’s Office says that Gregory Creek Road and roads accessed off of Gregory Creek Road are now open to residents only, including Zola Drive, Cordes Court, Claus Lane, Herman Way, Branch Lane, and Chrismar Lane. Evacuation orders have also been lifted for Solus Road, Solus Campground Road, Wells Way, Lundgren Mountain Road and Critter Crossing Road. These can be accessed via North Ramp Road. These areas are still under evacuation warning, so residents should be prepared. All other evacuation orders remain in effect. Returning evacuees who need electricity can call PG&E, who will either restore their connection to the grid or provide them with a generator. Kits for sifting and to protect one’s health from dangerous ash will be available at the Gregory Creek Road closure. 211 NorCal has setup an online dashboard to help residents in the Lakehead area affected by the Salt Fire. A disaster relief center will open starting Friday from 10AM to 3PM at the the Lions Club on Mammoth Drive in Lakehead. Pathways to Hope for Children is also offering services and supplies at no cost weekdays from 9AM to 4PM at 2280 Benton Drive in Redding. Their number is 242-2020.
