The District Attorney’s Office has cleared deputies of wrongdoing in the fatal shooting of a Cottonwood man last June. Deputies were called to a home on Adobe Road off Balls Ferry Road by a woman saying 65-year-old Robert Lyon had threatened her with a gun. Lyon and the woman apparently both lived at the home. She was identified as Quadira Wilson-Borden. When deputies got there she had fled to about 100 yards away with her boyfriend, Tommy Watkins. She told deputies that Tommy’s brother might still be hiding at the mobile home. Deputies had been to the home for multiple other calls, including one where Lyon had attacked his daughter with a machete, and he apparently had fired his shotgun at a vehicle earlier that morning. Lyon was still inside the home and deputies called out on their loudspeakers for him to come out. Eventually he did, but he still had the shotgun in his hands. He refused to put the gun down and yelled obscenities as well as quote-“You’re going to have to shoot me!”. A deputy hit Lyon with several rifle rounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
