Coroner ID’s Shingletown Man Who Drown In Shasta Lake

The Shasta County Coroners Office has identified a Shingletown man who apparently drowned while swimming in Lake Shasta Sunday evening. Dive team members recovered the body of the 65-year-old Mark Steven Boyd from the murky waters around 7:50PM. He had been on an anchored patio boat and jumped into the water around 5 O’clock near Dave Cove on the Pit River arm of the lake. Divers reported that visibility in the extremely dark and murky conditions was about a half a foot. Boyd’s body was found about 45 feet under the water. The sheriff’s office says that due to the low water levels it is difficult to see the many trees and logs that would normally be deep under water.
