The Lava Fire in Siskiyou County is estimated at 26,203 acres with 77% containment. It was started by lightning on June 24th, and stretches from the Mount Shasta Vistas in the north to the slopes of Mount Shasta in the south, which is where most of the fire activity is still happening above 6,600 foot elevation near the tree line. The lava fire destroyed 23 structures, including 14 homes.
25 miles up Highway 97 from the Lava Fire is the Tennant Fire, which is fully contained after burning 10,580 acres.
The Bradley Fire is burning east of McCloud north of Highway 89. The Forest Service Monday estimated the fire at 357 acres with 90% containment.
