The Dixie Fire has burned over 30,000 acres as of Monday morning, with just 15% containment. The inferno has been creating its own weather, with large Pyrocumulous clouds forming. 810 structures are threatened but none have burned. The fire started in the Feather River Canyon in Butte County last Tuesday near where the Camp Fire was sparked in 2018. Jonesville and Philbrook remain under evacuation orders, as well as High Lakes, Highway 70 from the Plumas/Butte County line east to Twain, Meadow Valley and Bucks Lake. The fire is burning to the southeast.
There’s been very little growth on a fire in the Plumas National Forest. The Sugar Fire and Dotta Fire make up the Beckwourth Complex. They were both sparked by lightning. The size is now 105,350 acres with 82% containment.
