Fire and smoke damaged some businesses inside the building that used to be the home of Riverfront Playhouse. At 10:35PM Tuesday night Redding Fire Department was called to 1666 East Cypress Avenue. They found the building full of smoke. Since there are multiple businesses there, it took a little while to find what was burning. Once the fire was found it was extinguished in about 5 minutes. Two of the businesses were heavily damaged, while several of the others had various levels of smoke damage. The cause is under investigation.
