Crews Likely To Continue Dousing Lava Fire Hot Spots Until Rainy Season

The Lava Fire in Siskiyou County might continue to smolder for months, as it may be that long before significant rains come to finally douse it for good. It’s still 77% contained, though the overall size has not increased for the past week. Evacuations have all been lifted though some road closures remain in effect ad the fire continues to burn on the inaccessible lower slope of Mount Shasta. The Lava Fire destroyed 23 structures, including 14 homes, mostly in the Mount Shasta Vista subdivision.
