Grand Jury Finds School District Board Violated The Brown Act

The Shasta County Grand Jury has found the Anderson Union High School District Board in violation of transparency rules. Board meeting agendas are apparently not accessible enough because they’re posted in the window of the district office and can’t be seen after hours. The Grand Jury also says the agenda should be more easily retrievable on the district website. They also found that closed session action agenda items were not reported properly after the sessions. These are all violations of the Brown Act which, as the report points out, is a floor not a ceiling, and spells out the least amount of openness that’s required of a public body.
