Coroner ID’s Man Killed After Jumping Off Lake Britton Bridge

The name of a man who died in a jump from the Lake Britton Bridge has been released by the Shasta County Coroner’s Office. Last Wednesday afternoon deputies were called to the Highway 89 bridge over Lake Britton near Burney. They talked to the friends of 23-year-old Don Taylor Gorum, who told them that the Sparks, Nevada man was an experienced cliff and bridge jumper. They had filmed Gorum jumping off the bridge and the video showed him attempting a flipping maneuver. He apparently landed in the water awkwardly, and did not resurface. The Sheriff’s Dive Team was called in and searched the area under the bridge for several hours. They found Gorum’s body about 37 feet below the surface in dark and muddy water.
